Great upcoming youth event in Arkhangelsk in September
The event "reACTion- a workshop against prejudice" will be arranged in Arkhangelsk 16th-20th of September. The target group is youths with different cultural background living in the Barents region. All participants will take part in a process with the goal to create a performance focusing on tolerance and anti racism. Trought this process all participants will have to face their own prejudices and will get experiences that makes it easer to fight them. Its not necessary to have thetare or stage experience beforehand.
The event will be arranged by and for young active and interested people in the Barents region, between 18 and 25 years old; and it will become an arena where young people meet over the cultural and geographical borders to make emphasis on human rights and especially on prejudice and xenophobia. The event will help the participants to increase their tolerance and spread information about the importance of fighting racism and xenophobia.
This is a meeting point for making bridges between the youths from different nations and ethnical groups and an arena for international cooperation and common project work will be used as a tool to promote equality between the youths with different cultural background as well as to draw attention to and to put the important human rights issues in the Barents region on the agenda. The respect for human rights is the basis for peace, freedom, justice, democracy and sustainable development.
reACTion will be arranged in Archangelsk during the Fair –days 2009 and that is why it will reach large audience. The event last 5 days in total, day 1 and 5 are travel days. Day 2 and 3 are devoted to process work and preparation of the performance and on day 4 it is planned to have a miniconference with information, performance and stands with the information from the NGOs from all the countries.
