Annual winter conference on the problems of climate change gathered more than 200 students, researchers, industry representatives, politicians and decision makers from different nations from North America, Northern Europe and Russia in Swedish Jokkmokk in the beginning of February. The aim of the conference was to offer young people an opportunity of working with the future, meeting friends and developing new strategies and initiatives for the North. Their recommendations and demands will be handed over and discussed with governmental representatives from Sweden, Norway, Finnland, Canada and the US.

The Vth International Children &Youth Music & Theatre Festival ”Golden keys” shall be held in April 2012 in the capital of the Republic of Karelia, in Petrozavodsk. The topic of the festival shall be “Fairytale from the North in XXI century”.

The International Children’s Photo Exhibition “We Are Living In The North!”will take place during the Third SEVER.doc Fest in Norilsk. “Sever” means North in Russian. Norilsk – is one of the very North cities in the planet with very hard and cold climate. It is situated far in the North Siberia in Russia. The Exhibition will open the Third SEVER.doc Fest in Norilsk at 24th of February, 2012.

In November winter Rovaniemi was filled with youth energy from all of the Barents region. Participants of the Explode musical project just in 3 days created an unforgettable performance about the issues important for all young people in the Barents region.

Queering Sápmi is a storytelling project. What´s it like to be a minority in a minority? The purpose is to increase the image of sami identity, among both sami and none-sami community.

We want to start the fight for human rights among queer persons that happens to be sami.

Now we look for participants! We want to get in contact with queer sami persons that challenge norms about gender, sexuality and identity in some kind of way.

Are you a woman who works in a stereotypically male business? Are you a man who behave in a normative female way? Or are you gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender?

From the 7th to 9th of November 2011 the II International Youth Camp «MediaCamp2011» will be held in Petrozavodsk in the framework of the project "The Year of Fridtjof Nansen in Karelia."
The aim of the project is the promotion of ecological lifestyle in the North.
Creative young people and experts from Karelia, Russia and other countries within 3 days will become familiar with innovative Russian and foreign media projects, work features of news agencies (RIA News, ITAR-TASS) and environmental Media.

A musical workshop on Barents diversity "ExpLoDE" will take place in Rovaniemi, Finland on November 16-20.
