Text Anne Figenschou

DSCF1370_200x267Alta YWCA-YMCA invites Russian scouts from Alta’s twin city Apatity on the Kola Peninsula to experience a Norwegian scout camp, and thereby strengthen the “people-to-people” cooperation in the Barents Region.

The scout group in Alta arranges 21st -25th of June 2008 a bilateral scout camp. The camp will consist of regular scout activities, such as handicraft, surviving in nature, first aid, sport activities etc. The local culture in Finnmark will be in focus, as well as the traditional ways of living in the North of Norway.

The primary task of the visit of the Russian scouts to Alta is extended contact between the youths. The Russian delegation will have responsibility of parts of the program. They will have a presentation of their way of scoutlife, and thereby contribute to share knowledge about Russian ways and traditions.
