A special programme was arranged for youth representatives – during their own workshop they discussed the most important issues for the development of the region according to the youth point of view. During the second day of the convent they presented the results of the workshop. Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA, one of the main sponsors of the convent, encouraged the young participants to continue as entrepreneurs and to cooperate across the borders of the Barents region.

The highlight of the convent was the “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” and “The Entrepreneur of the Year” awards  given to entrepreneurs who during the year have carried out unique achievements in the Barents area and who inspire others. This year both awards went to Yngve Bergheim, participant of YIE project, CEO at Ramsalt Lab. The jury stated that “… Yngve is a successful entrepreneur that has embraced the cross border possibilities in Barents as a guideline in his business. His achievement is very special and he is an inspiration to others”.
